This year I was invited to attend a Thanksgiving Holiday Dance & Fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting The Bone Marrow Foundation. Guests, made up of high school Freshman and Sophomore students from the NY Metropolitan area, arrived at 583 Park Avenue dressed in their best Black Tie attire to dance, take photos with friends and raise money for a fantastic cause.
To enjoy the night in style, I went to R.J. West NY to have my makeup applied! I didn’t want a lot of makeup, just a little to look more polished, so I opted for “The Starlet” package. My Makeup Artist, Sarah, asked me about my skin type, what I was thinking for the night, and what my usual makeup routine was. After my consultation, she determined that BareMinerals was the best choice for my application, because it would last the entire night and it wouldn’t irritate my skin, which tends to be sensitive.
Makeup Application with Sarah at RJ West NY.
Sarah began with the Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, to give me light coverage. She used taupe and pearl Ready shadows for a subtle take on a smokey eye, and used a black gel liner to fill in my eyelashes. Sarah finished my makeup look with a light pink Ready blush and a nude Marvelous Moxie lip liner. I layered the lipliner with a clear chapstick for a little shine! I absolutely loved my makeup look! And Sarah explained everything that she did, so I felt like if I attempted to try this on my own, I just might be successful…although I know I wouldn’t do as well as Sarah; she’s a professional after all!
RJ West carries various makeup and skincare lines, and also offers spa services!
My makeup look paired perfectly with my sleeveless black dress from Laundry by Shelli Segal, which I picked out at Bloomingdale’s. I absolutely loved this dress! It featured an embellished high neck, and a trapeze style silhouette that was comfortable and dressy. I paired it with Tory Burch Classic Ankle Strap high heel sandals and my Kate Spade Cedar Street Magnolia crossbody bag.
My finished look for the night.
I had a great time getting ready, and an even better time at the dance, where I got to see all of my friends in great dresses and helped to raise money for an awesome cause!
